Work and experience

I’ve been working in the carpentry and building industry for 18 years. With nearly two decades on the tools, I’ve developed a deep love for the craft, especially when it comes to cut roofs and finish carpentry, which I find the most satisfying.

I hold City & Guilds Level 1, 2, and 3 qualifications.

Favourite project

I have worked across a wide range of projects over the years. One that stands out is the renovation of a large garage in Shillingford, which we transformed into a beautiful living space for a client’s elderly relatives. This was a truly meaningful job that delivered a stunning result. Another memorable project was a bespoke build in the South Hams known as The Smurf House. It was full of curves, character, and even a slide from the second floor into the garden!

What I love about working at Dan Cook Carpentry is the tight-knit team. Everyone gets on really well, and it genuinely is one of the best groups of guys I’ve worked with throughout my career.

When it comes to my work, I believe strongly in quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. Whether I’m helping bring a client’s dream home to life or keeping the site clean, safe, and well organised, I take pride in creating a smooth and respectful experience for both our team and our clients.

Getting to know you

My passion for carpentry started early. My dad was a landscape gardener, and I used to help him with all kinds of outdoor building jobs. I loved the variety, the fresh air, and meeting people on different sites. It was clear from a young age that a career in the trades was the right path for me.

Outside of work, I love family time with my wife and our two daughters, whether we’re out walking in the woods or curled up for a movie night.

And just a couple of fun facts about me. I’m DeWALT through and through (you won’t see me with any other tools in my hand!). My little claim to fame is that I got a birthday shoutout from SkillBuilders on YouTube for my 30th!
