Meet our team
Archie Townsend
Apprentice Carpenter
Work and experience
I’ve been working in the carpentry and building industry for around three years, learning from some of the most skilled tradespeople in the business. From day one, I’ve known that this is the career for me. I love being hands-on, problem-solving, and seeing the results of hard work take shape on-site.
I enjoy all aspects of carpentry, from structural work to fine finishing, and I’m always eager to learn something new. I’m currently preparing to take my Level 2 Carpentry end-of-course assessment and will soon be progressing on to Level 3. Every day is an opportunity to improve my skills and contribute to the high standards we’re known for at Dan Cook Carpentry.
What I enjoy most about working at Dan Cook Carpentry & Building is the team spirit. Everyone here is passionate about what they do and takes pride in their work, which makes it a brilliant environment to learn and grow in. My approach is simple: always be polite and helpful with customers, work hard, and do my best to support the team.
Favourite project
A project that really stands out for me is the house in Manaton on Dartmoor. Being involved in a build of that quality and scale was a great experience. It gave me the chance to put my skills into practice alongside a highly talented team. It’s projects like that which remind me how much I enjoy what I do.
Getting to know you
I’ve always known I wanted to work on-site. My dad was a carpenter, so I’ve been around the trade my whole life. It’s in my blood. That early exposure gave me a real appreciation for craftsmanship, and I’m proud to be following in his footsteps.
Outside of work, I like keeping active, You’ll usually find me at the gym or hanging out with friends, having a good laugh. A fun fact about me: I used to be a professional downhill mountain bike racer and was ranked 11th in the world for juniors!
