Meet our team
George Bailey
Operations Manager
Work and experience
I’ve been working in the carpentry and building industry for 18 years, and in that time I’ve developed a real passion for managing custom new builds from start to finish. I hold an NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry, and I’m proud to bring both hands-on experience and organisational know-how to my role as Operations Manager at Dan Cook Carpentry & Building.
I was lucky to know what I wanted to do from a young age. At 16, I followed my older brother into the trade, and I’ve never looked back.
Favourite project
One project that really stands out for me is a one-off, sustainable timber-framed new build in Manaton we completed last year. It was the perfect example of our team’s ability to combine high-quality craftsmanship with thoughtful, sustainable design.
What I enjoy most about working here is our tight-knit, talented team. We work hard, we take pride in what we build, and we create spaces that our clients can truly be proud of. Quality craftsmanship has always been important to me, so providing that for our clients is incredibly rewarding.
Getting to know you
Outside of work, I like to keep active with walking, mountain biking, and snowboarding in the winter. And for something a bit different – in my twenties I spent three months herding cattle in the Australian outback. Not quite the same as managing a building project, but it definitely taught me a thing or two about hard work and resilience.
