Work and experience
I have over 25 years of hands-on experience in the construction industry. From the very beginning, I’ve built my career around quality craftsmanship, honest communication, and a genuine passion for building.
My vision for the business has always been clear: to grow Dan Cook Carpentry & Building into one of the most respected and prestigious construction firms in the South West. Today, I’m proud of the reputation we’ve earned for delivering exceptional work with a personal touch.
Favourite project
We take on a wide range of projects, but one that really stands out is our Manton project. This was a full new build combining timber frame, natural local granite, and oak cladding, perfectly nestled into the surrounding Dartmoor landscape. It’s a great reflection of the craftsmanship and care that defines our approach to every job.
Getting to know you
Away from the day-to-day running of the business, I’m passionate about giving back and pushing myself. I’ve raised money for Cancer Research UK by taking on a charity boxing match and by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Both challenges that tested me physically and mentally, but I’m proud to have taken them on for such a meaningful cause.
When I’m not on-site, you’ll usually find me outdoors. I enjoy motocross, mountain biking, hiking, skiing and coaching one of the youth rugby teams at my local club in Newton Abbot. I also make time to enjoy the simpler things in life: spending time with family and friends, ideally with a cold cider in hand after a long day!
